3.3.3. Knight and One Pawn versus Three Pawns
The knight and a pawn against three pawns win only if the enemy pawns can be blocked or isolated and later eliminated. In all other cases, and especially when the weaker side has a far-advanced passed pawn, as a rule, no more than a draw can be achieved.
327. The three connected pawns easily draw against the knight and a pawn provided they are not blocked. A typical case is shown in the following diagram. White to play can do no better than draw since the pawn exchange is inevitable.
