Black also draws against the b-pawn supported by the king if his king can manages to get to the rear of the pawn. When the black king is too far, White can by the subtle manoeuvres deflect the knight from control of the critical square b7 thus assuring the winning pawn advance. The following position, with colours reversed, arose in the game Petrov – Aronin, Cheboksary, 1950.
