The assertion that Black can only save the game in an analogous position when the white knight cannot reach d5 in two moves will be put to test in the following example. As this position is very similar to diagram 353, also Black’s strategy will be essentially the same as in that example. With White to play events might unfold in the same way as in example 357. Despite the black king and the white knight being on the squares of the same colour, Black to play draws as he can transfer the knight to the ideal defensive square d5 from where it can be switched to the defence from the “right-hand” side.
