E-book: Knight Endgames Important Endings N+P vs N

Black’s prospects of drawing are the best against the d-file pawn on the sixth rank supported by the king. The black knight is then the most active since it can from both flanks prevent the winning pawn advance on the seventh rank. In the least favourable case when the black king is cut off far from the pawn and cannot help its knight, Black very often loses. But converting advantage into victory is quite involved as Black’s defensive possibilities are considerable. To what degree these positions are sensitive is best illustrated by the fact that the outcome of the game in this case depends on who has the move!
