In such endings victory is possible only if Black’s king has no time to occupy the ideal defensive position in front of the enemy passed pawn, or when the black knight is out of play. In the first case White wins easily by advancing the passed pawn, as corroborated by the ending of the game Kasparov – Bukic, Banja Luka, 1979.
