In this type of position there are two curious cases of “positional” draw – when both parties have to repeat moves since a disruption of symmetry would lead to defeat! Let us take a look at the first case! This position is drawn whoever has the move thanks to the c- and f-pawns still being on their initial squares. If the pawns were on c3 and f6 or c4 and f5 respectively, the player having the move would lose!
