E-book: Pawn Endgames K+3P vs K+3P

When the outside passed pawn is not on the very rim of the chess-board, deflection does not have full impact so Black’s prospects of drawing are good. This is borne out by the ending Fischer – Bisguier, USA Championship, 1959/60. The white outside passed pawn is only somewhat nearer the scene of the main events and the black “rim” pawns have not been weakened and co-operate excellently in covering the space on the queenside.
