Sometimes clumsy placement of her king prevents the queen from winning against c (f)-pawn. The oldest recorded example is from magazine “Chess world”, year 1865. White can’t stop pawn advance to second rank because his own king is in the way of winning pin over h8-a1 diagonal.

Vlado Kovacevic is a chess grandmaster and an endgame expert. He very successfully competed on the national team. From 2000 – 2004, he acted as selector of the Croatian Men’s national team. He is also a well-known chess author.
