When rook supports white pawn from behind, Black has to defend passively as interposing is not possible because of taking the knight and pawn promotion. Black usually draws if he has double control of the blocking square in front of a pawn. There are some chances if the pawn is not far advanced, but Black can fight that, too. We will look at the tipical case, analyzed by Cozio in 1835.
