In this positions the side with a rook is usually the one fighting for a draw. Everything depends on a pawn structure, how far are them from promotion and both kings position. First we will check endgames with connected pawns, followed by disconnected and double pawns. a) Positions with connected pawns Connected pawns are offering best winning chances. When white king is far away, knight and pawns usually win. Drawing technique is to give the rook for both pawns. We will see the study from G. Zahodjakin (1981.).
